WASHINGTON COUNTY, FL — The Washington County Board of County Commissioners has declared a Local State of Emergency effective October 7, 2026, in response to the anticipated impacts of Tropical Storm Isaias and the severe weather conditions associated with the storm.

The declaration is intended to provide Washington County with the necessary authority and flexibility to take appropriate actions to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of Washington County and to safeguard public and private property.

The declaration authorizes the County to coordinate emergency response and preparedness activities with local, state, and federal agencies and to take such actions as may be necessary to respond effectively to the potential impacts.

Residents are urged to remain vigilant and take appropriate precautions as conditions develop. Citizens should monitor official weather forecasts and Washington County emergency notifications and be prepared to follow any instructions issued by local or state emergency management officials. Residents are encouraged to:
•Secure outdoor furniture, decorations, equipment, and other loose items.
•Ensure adequate supplies of food, water, medications, and other essential items.
•Charge cell phones and emergency communication devices.
•Review household emergency plans and evacuation information.
•Keep vehicles fueled and avoid unnecessary travel during hazardous conditions.
•Remain alert for potential flooding, strong winds, tornadoes, and other hazardous weather.
•Never drive through flooded roadways or around barricades.

Washington County officials will continue to work together to monitor conditions, assess potential impacts, and coordinate with emergency response partners. Additional information and updates will be provided as they become available.
